1. Software assistance, not tax or legal advice
Order It Up is software for restaurant operations. It is not a chartered accountant, tax practitioner, legal adviser, GST practitioner, government portal or tax authority. The Operator does not provide professional tax or legal advice through the software, website, reports, receipts, templates or support messages.
Tax laws, rates, exemptions, classifications, invoice requirements and reporting procedures may change and may depend on the restaurant's registration, turnover, location, supply, customer and business model. Obtain advice from a qualified Indian tax professional and check current official government guidance before relying on any configuration or output.
2. GST configuration and invoices
Any GST-related settings, CGST/SGST/IGST calculations, tax summaries or invoice templates are configurable software tools. They do not establish that the restaurant is registered under GST, that a supply is taxable at a particular rate, that an exemption applies, or that an invoice generated by the software is legally valid for a particular transaction.
Where GST law requires a registered supplier to issue a tax invoice, the supplier is responsible for ensuring that the invoice contains the particulars required by the applicable law and rules, including the supplier's correct legal name, address and GSTIN; a compliant consecutive serial number; date; recipient details where required; HSN or SAC; description; quantity where relevant; taxable value; tax rate and amount; place-of-supply details where applicable; and other required particulars. The supplier must verify the latest requirements, including any applicable special rules, exemptions and amendments.
The restaurant is solely responsible for entering and reviewing its GSTIN, business address, state, place of supply, HSN/SAC, item descriptions, tax rates, discounts, invoice series, tax amounts and customer particulars. Do not issue an invoice with incorrect or placeholder tax details.
3. E-invoicing and returns
A PDF, printed receipt, thermal bill, export file or invoice number produced by Order It Up is not automatically an e-invoice, IRN, signed QR code, GST return or proof of filing. If e-invoicing, e-way bill generation, GST portal filing or another statutory integration is required for the restaurant, the restaurant must use an authorised or applicable government process and verify that the relevant acknowledgement or reference has actually been issued.
The restaurant must independently determine whether e-invoicing or other electronic reporting requirements apply to it, based on current law and its circumstances. Do not represent a document as filed, accepted or validated by a government portal unless the actual portal or authorised service has confirmed that status.
4. VAT and international tax packs
Any VAT rate packs or non-Indian tax settings are general configuration aids only. They are not jurisdiction-specific tax advice and do not guarantee compliance with the law of another country. A user operating outside India must obtain local advice, verify applicable tax rates and invoice requirements, and configure the product accordingly.
5. FSSAI and food-business information
A receipt field or display of an FSSAI number in Order It Up does not create, renew, verify or certify an FSSAI licence or registration. It does not mean that the restaurant, food, premises, staff, hygiene practices or kitchen have been approved by FSSAI.
Under section 31 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, food business operators generally must hold the applicable licence or registration, subject to the law and relevant exceptions. Each food business must determine its category and obtain and maintain the appropriate authorisation through the applicable FSSAI process. The restaurant is responsible for displaying accurate licence information and complying with food-safety obligations.
6. Z-reports, cash closures and management reports
Z-reports, end-of-day summaries, cashier closures, sales totals, discounts, stock summaries and other management reports are operational records generated from the data entered and captured by the system. They are not, merely by being generated, statutory audit reports, audited accounts, GST returns or certified financial statements.
The restaurant must reconcile reports with actual cash, payment-provider settlements, bank statements, refunds, voids, discounts, stock records and accounting books. Incorrect setup, incomplete entries, duplicate transactions, offline synchronisation issues or user actions may affect report accuracy.
7. Tally XML and accounting exports
Tally XML or other accounting exports are data-transfer formats intended to assist with downstream accounting workflows. An export does not mean that the information has been imported, posted, reconciled, accepted or audited in Tally or any other accounting system. The restaurant and its accountant must review the exported data, map ledgers and tax categories correctly, check totals and resolve import errors before relying on the accounting records.
8. Payments and settlement records
Unless a payment integration is expressly enabled and identified in the relevant pilot documentation, Order It Up should not be treated as a payment processor, bank, wallet or settlement service. A payment status or reference entered into the POS is not proof that funds have settled. The restaurant must verify payments with its bank, acquirer or payment service provider and must not enter card PINs, CVVs, passwords or banking credentials into the POS.
9. Restaurant responsibility checklist
- Confirm the restaurant's GST registration status and applicable tax treatment with a qualified adviser.
- Verify invoice particulars, numbering, tax rates, HSN/SAC and place-of-supply information before issuing invoices.
- Check current e-invoice, e-way bill, record-retention and return-filing obligations where applicable.
- Keep source records and independent backups; reconcile POS outputs to accounting and payment records.
- Maintain the correct FSSAI licence or registration and all other licences required for the food business.
- Confirm compatibility and safe installation of printers, cash drawers and other connected equipment.
10. Official references
For current requirements, consult official sources rather than relying only on software defaults:
- Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) — GST law, rules and notifications.
- GST Portal — taxpayer services and filing.
- FSSAI licensing information — food business licensing and registration.
